Choosing the photos for my school magazine

Planning the photoshoot

Equipment
  • Camera (phone)
  • Two models
Things to consider

Lighting - bright natural lighting so the location and models can be sen clearly.
Location - school, making sure I have access, working on a bench outside
Shot types - mid shot as that is a main convention of a school magazine and it shows the expressions of the models and gives a good view of the surroundings and clothing.
Time of day/Setting - not too crowded during changeover times or at break/lunch, or dark in the evening.
Weather - sunny day to bring a positivity and colour to the magazine.
Costumes - school uniform/smart clothes.
Expression - happy expressions to make them seem to be enjoying their time at the school.
Props - books, folders, revision cards to convey a work ethic of the students at the school.

Information to tell others involved

I would make sure I tell the models what the purpose of the photoshoot is for and that I will use their images for a front over and contents page in my AS media studies magazine. I'll ensure i get consent from them before taking these photos.

Schedule

It shouldn't take more than half an hour to get a few photos that would be suitable to use in the given locations. I would take the shoot after school or at a time where there aren't many people around the area so we don't cause any distractions to ongoing lessons etc.
